CHICAGO, Feb 19 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn and soybeans were mostly unchanged at elevators, river terminals, ethanol plants and other types of processors in a spot check of locations in the U.S. Midwest on Thursday.

• In one exception, the basis fell by 1 cent at an ethanol plant in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

• Soy basis bids were flat at all locations in the spot check.

• Soft red wheat basis bids fell in Toledo, Ohio.

• Chicago Board of Trade corn futures fell as U.S. farmers, punished by slumping prices after last year's huge corn harvest, are expected to reduce their plantings of corn in 2026 as they brace for a fourth straight year of narrow profit margins or even losses.

• Analysts said demand for corn is high given record ethanol margins and U.S. corn being cheap.
