Southern Cross Gold Consolidated (ASX:SX2) expanded the Golden Dyke discovery within its Sunday Creek project in Victoria to twice its prospective area, confirming a more connected and larger mineralized system, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.

Drilling extended the known Golden Dyke mineralized system 200 meters to the west towards the Christina prospect, intersecting 16 vein sets, including 10 previously unrecognized ones outside the current exploration target, the filing said.

Results returned 1.8 meters at nearly 81 grams per tonne (g/t) gold equivalent from 649 meters, with four individual assays exceeding 100 g/t grade of gold.

Results are pending from 41 holes under analysis, which includes 10 actively drilled holes and one abandoned hole, per the filing.

Shares down 3% in midday trade Wednesday.
