Gildan Activewear Pauses Buybacks to Pay Down HanesBrands Acquisition -- Market Talk

1030 ET - Gildan Activewear says that after buying HanesBrands, the company is at three-times leverage, and that it won't resume share repurchases until it brings down the level by around half. It plans to use the roughly $850 million in free cash flow it expects to generate to delever as quickly as possible, CEO Glenn Chamandy says on an analyst call. "The focus is on delevering. And when we get to around the midpoint of our targeted range of 1.5 times to 2.5 times will then return to buying back stock," Chamandy says, noting that the sale of HanesBrands Australia would also quicken the pace.
