A Prudential Japanese subsidiary found in an investigation that a group of its employees obtained and shared information from agencies without permission.
The employees, who had been seconded, or temporarily assigned, to the agencies, shared information about business operations with other Prudential employees. Those employees then used it "to understand the structure and promotion status of financial institutions and other agencies when considering sales promotion strategies," the company said.
The company said it will eliminate secondments involved in life insurance sales activities at agencies and will strengthen its compliance department's involvement with its sales department.
Multiple members of the company's leadership will also voluntarily return a portion of their compensation.
Last month, Prudential of Japan said it would suspend sales for 90 days due to employee misconduct issues.
