Contemporary Amperex Technology (SHE:300750, HKG:3750) will increase artificial intelligence usage in research in a bid to spread Chinese battery technology and standards globally, the South China Morning Post reported Thursday.

The battery giant plans to create a comprehensive industrial ecosystem from upstream mining to materials, battery manufacturing, downstream applications, and recycling, the report said, citing founder and chairman Robin Zeng Yuqun's remarks at a briefing during the Two Sessions legislative meetings in China.

Shares rose 5% in Hong Kong and 4% in Shenzhen during afternoon trading Thursday.
