Shares of Byrna Technologies slid after the company logged preliminary first-quarter revenue that missed analyst expectations.

The stock fell 8.4% to $10.98 in Monday morning trading, marking a new 52-week low. The shares have tumbled 51% in the past year.

The self-defense technology company expects to record revenue of around $29 million for the fiscal first quarter ended Feb. 28, up 11% from the year prior. Wall Street forecast first-quarter revenue of $30.7 million, according to FactSet.

Byrna, which specializes in less-lethal self-defense options, said the preliminary first-quarter revenue reflects typical post-holiday seasonal moderation following a strong holiday-driven fourth quarter.

During the first-quarter, Byrna said it saw sales generation across its direct-to-consumer platform and expanding retail footprint. The company is continuing to broaden its omnichannel distribution strategy, it said.
