Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google said in a Thursday blog post it is launching a new feature for its maps application called Ask Maps, adding further artificial intelligence capabilities for navigation.
The Ask Maps feature is a chatbot that can answer detailed and complex, real-world questions that were previously not possible.
The company said the feature is now being rolled out in the US and India on Android and iOS, with a desktop launch expected soon.
Additionally, Google said that it is also going to use its Gemini AI models to provide immersive navigation capabilities, with a 3D view of maps that indicates buildings, overpasses, and the surrounding terrain.
The company said that Immersive Navigation starts rolling out Thursday across the US, noting that availability will expand over the coming months to eligible iOS and Android devices, CarPlay, Android Auto, and cars with Google built-in.
