Global shipments of personal computers are expected to decline by 12% in 2026 to 245 million units, the research firm Omdia said in a report issued Tuesday.

Omdia attributed the decline to sharp increases in memory and storage prices, which are expected to rise 60% in Q1.

Desktops are expected to decline by 10% to 53.2 million units, while laptops will fall by 12% to 192.2 million units.

Deliveries of computers using Microsoft's (MSFT) Windows operating are expected to fall 12.1%, while Apple (AAPL) computers are projected to decline 4.8% and those using Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google Chrome platform are expected to decline 27.6%.
