Archer Aviation said its partners in Texas, Florida and New York were chosen by the federal government for the White House's air taxi project.

The partners were selected by the Transportation Department and Federal Aviation Administration to participate in an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) integration pilot program, Archer said Monday.

The program is designed to integrate eVTOL aircraft into U.S. airspace by establishing safety and operational standards for air taxis in certain markets.

Archer, which develops eVTOL aircraft, said it will work across the three locations with local transportation authorities to prepare for flights of its Midnight aircraft.

"This is the clearest sign yet from the White House, the FAA and the DOT that bringing air taxis to market in the United States is a real priority," said Archer Chief Executive Adam Goldstein.

The Transportation Department chose a total of eight projects across 26 states to begin piloting different eVTOL programs. The programs include urban air taxi services, cargo and logistics networks, and emergency medical response operations.
