VA Tech Wabag Consortium Bags Order for New Wastewater Treatment Plant in Georgia

A consortium led by VA Tech Wabag (NSE:WABAG, BOM:533269) has secured a "large" order, worth between $30 million and $75 million, from the United Water Supply Company of Georgia, according to a Friday filing to the Indian stock exchanges.

The contract is for the construction of a 19 million litres per day (MLD) wastewater treatment and sludge treatment facility in the city of Kutaisi in Georgia. The plant will have the provision for future expansion up to a capacity of 56 MLD.

The engineering, procurement, and construction scope of the project includes demolition of the existing plant, construction of the new WWTP, and installation of an effluent pipeline to the river.

As the consortium leader, WABAG will undertake design, engineering, supply, installation, and commissioning of the treatment systems, along with training of client personnel, and supervision of operation and maintenance for 12 months.
