Malaysian Shares Extend Gains on Upbeat Regional Performance; Petron Malaysia Refining's Shares Drop 4%

Malaysian shares ended in the green on Wednesday, mirroring regional sentiment.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI added 18.82 points to end 1.1% higher at 1,729.81. The day range was between 1,713.42 and 1,730.72.

In corporate news, shares of downstream oil and gas company, Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing (KLSE:PETRONM) dropped about 4% on close after it said it is seeking to renew its authorization to conduct revenue-generating transactions at its upcoming annual general meeting.

Shares of AWC (KLSE:AWC) slid about 2% on close after its unit AWSB, secured a one-year letter of award worth 26.1 million ringgit from the Ministry of Health to provide hospital support services at Hospital Shah Alam, in Selangor, Malaysia.

Top Glove's (SGX:BVA, KLSE:TOPGLOV) profit attributable to owners rose to 30.8 million ringgit in the fiscal second quarter ended Feb. 28 from 30.3 million ringgit a year earlier. Shares ended marginally lower on Wednesday.
