British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the U.K. was aware of talks between Washington and Tehran, which President Trump said had taken place over the weekend.

"We the U.K. were aware that that was happening, and the immediate priority has to be a swift resolution of the conflict," Starmer told lawmakers in the British Parliament. That would involve "delivering a negotiated agreement which puts tough conditions on Iran particularly in relation to nuclear weapons," he said. His government was focused on de-escalation of the conflict, Starmer added. "But we've got to plan that it could go on for some time."
