SouthGobi Resources (HKG:1878) agreed with its largest shareholder, JD Zhixing Fund, to defer more than $160 million in payment obligations under its convertible debenture and related agreements, according to a Monday Hong Kong bourse filing.
Shares of the coal mining and exploration firm were up nearly 2% in Tuesday afternoon trade.
The deferred amounts, including interest and fees due in 2026, will be payable by Aug. 31, 2027.
The move aims to ease near-term liquidity pressure and provide financial flexibility, the filing said.
