Cambodia's Sokimex to Suspend LPG Supply as Import Disruptions Persist -- OPIS

Cambodia's LPG distributor Sokimex Investment Group said on Sunday it will suspend domestic supply from April 1 after being unable to secure imports since early March, citing prolonged instability in the Middle East.

Cambodia typically relies on pressurized LPG cargoes from regional hubs such as south China, Malaysia and Singapore. Shipping data shows Sokimex's last discharge was on March 14, when 3,689 metric tons were unloaded at its Sihanoukville terminal. The facility has a storage capacity of about 1,000 mt.

While smaller, pressurized shipments continue to move across the region, supply has tightened significantly, and market sources said buyers are facing higher premiums for both cargoes and freight. These shipments are typically carried on "coasters," with capacities ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 mt.

March trade flows indicate that coasters account for a major share of regional LPG movements. Vietnam imported 51,365 mt via coasters, compared with 37,970 mt via very large gas carriers, with the latter arriving earlier in the month. Similarly, the Philippines received 56,885 mt via coasters versus 53,936 mt via VLGCs, with VLGC volumes concentrated in early March.

China and Malaysia are the key suppliers to the regional pressurized market. In March, China exported 64,290 mt and Malaysia shipped 37,689 mt to Southeast Asia.
