United Parks & Resorts (PRKS) was sued by the US Department of Justice over a policy that allegedly bans guests with disabilities from using wheeled walkers with seats at its theme parks, the agency said Thursday

The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida, alleges the policy violates Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the agency said in a statement.

The department said it acted after receiving multiple complaints from people with disabilities who were allegedly denied entry to the company's parks when using wheeled walkers with seats.

United Parks & Resorts operates multiple theme parks in the US, including SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Discovery Cove Orlando and Aquatica Orlando.

The Justice Department is seeking a court order requiring the company to change its policies, train staff and pay monetary damages to affected individuals, along with a civil penalty.

United Parks & Resorts did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
