European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were little changed late Friday morning, edging 0.01% higher to 1,700.88 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index, which is modestly higher for the week.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company Sanofi (SNY) and medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP), which rose 2.4% and 0.5%, respectively. They were followed by lender Banco Santander (SAN) and brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD), which were up 0.4% each.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and internet advertising firm Criteo (CRTO), which dropped 5.2% and 3%, respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Nokia (NOK) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which lost 2.8% and 2.3% respectively.
The gainers from the UK were led by pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca (AZN) and biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX), which advanced 4.2% and 3.8%, respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group (BHP) and pharmaceutical company GSK (GSK), which increased 1.2% and 1.1%, respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biotech company Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL) and pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN), which fell 5.4% and 4.8%, respectively. They were followed by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and software firm Endava (DAVA), which were down 4.4% and 3.9%, respectively.
