0050 GMT - The impact of war in the Middle East is laying bare pockets of vulnerability and resilience in Asia, says DBS's Taimur Baig. If this sort of shock hit five years ago, "I'd be very worried about China. Now I'm not worried about China at all." The economy has layers of insulation, including large strategic reserves, friendly ties with Iran, coal plants and green energy capacity. "So there are many layers of defense and their export demand for their winter months, and [demand for] solar panels are going to go through the roof now because of all the countries in the region that are super vulnerable," to energy price volatility, says Baig.
