Avita Lands Government Contract Worth Up to $25.5M to Supply RECELL Products

Avita Medical entered an agreement worth up to $25.5 million with a research unit of the Department of Health and Human Services to supply the government with treatments for burn mass casualty incidents.

During the 10-year contract, Avita, a wound care company, will grant the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority access to 3,000 units of its RECELL products, which are FDA-approved treatments for thermal burns and trauma wounds, the company said Wednesday.

BARDA is part of the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response within the Health Department.

In the event of a burn mass casualty incident, the RECELL products would be deployed to designated centers with trained staff. Avita will also provide BARDA with logistics help, quality assurance and deployment readiness, the company said.
