Crown Holdings logged higher sales amid an increase in beverage shipments despite headwinds from winter storms and the conflict in the Middle East.

The maker of aluminum cans and aerosol containers on Monday posted a first-quarter profit of $175 million, or $1.56 a share, compared with a profit of $193 million, or $1.65 a share, a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings came in at $1.86 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting $1.75 a share.

Revenue rose to $3.26 billion from $2.89 billion a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting $3.03 billion.

The company said its global beverage shipments increased 5% year over year, led by robust shipments in Europe and Asia-Pacific. The company experienced a slow start to the year due to widespread winter storms in January, said Chief Executive Timothy Donahue. The company also expects continued challenges from the Middle East war to persist throughout the second quarter, Donahue said.

In its fiscal second quarter, Crown guided for adjusted per-share earnings of $2.10 a share to $2.20 a share. Wall Street is expecting $2.20 a share, according to FactSet

For the full year, Crown guided for adjusted per-share earnings of $7.90 a share to $8.30 a share. Wall Street is looking for $8.07 a share, according to FactSet.

The company earlier this month said it plans to establish a new beverage can manufacturing facility in Northern India to meet demand. The two-line facility is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2027, the company said.
