Telephone and Data Systems (TDS) reported Q1 earnings Friday of $1.09 per diluted share, swinging from a loss of $0.09 a year earlier.
Two analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of $0.44.
Operating revenues for the quarter ended March 31 were $309.5 million, compared with $290.4 million a year earlier.
Two analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $313.3 million.
Shares of the company were up 2.7% in Friday's premarket trading.
