Tapestry raised its full-year outlook after its Coach brand drove a jump in sales during the fiscal third quarter.

The fashion company behind Coach and Kate Spade on Thursday posted a profit of $343.8 million, or $1.65 a share, in the quarter ended in late March, compared with $203.3 million, or 95 cents a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out certain one-time items, adjusted per-share earnings were $1.66, ahead of the $1.30 anticipated by analysts, according to FactSet.

Revenue jumped 21% to $1.92 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $1.79 billion.

Coach sales drove much of the growth, with revenue increasing 31% compared with Kate Spade's 10% decline.

Tapestry raised its full-year sales outlook to $7.95 billion, from prior guidance of $7.75 billion. It also now projects earnings will be $6.95 a share, up from $6.40 a share to $6.45 a share.
