CAE's Flightscape Could Unlock More Value Outside the Company -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
05/12

1409 ET - CAE's Flightscape business could be worth more on its own than inside CAE, Scotiabank analyst Konark Gupta says. In a report, the analyst estimates that the Flightscape, a high-growth aviation software business has a backlog of about C$700 million and estimated annual revenue of C$100 million-C$150 million. Gupta notes that similar aviation‑software companies have recently sold for far higher revenue multiples than CAE's current valuation. If Flightscape commands similar pricing, "we currently estimate a 100% sale could potentially be accretive to CAE by C$0.75 to C$2.50 per share." While Flightscape likely represents only a small share of CAE's revenue, Gupta cautions that limited disclosure around the unit makes it difficult to fully assess its value.
