Indonesia's state-owned oil and natural gas firm Pertamina is having talks with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to boost strategic collaboration in the energy niche, Bisnis reported Monday.

The parties met in Washington D.C., with Pertamina's Deputy President Director, Oki Muraza, and several U.S. DOE officials in attendance, the report said.

The talks centered around cooperation in energy trade, energy supply security, and oil and gas technology development among other areas, according to the report.

Pertamina continues to deepen its strategic partnership with the U.S. in the energy sector amid rising energy consumption in Indonesia, Bisnis reported, quoting Oki.

The nations also explored opportunities for knowledge sharing in managing the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) and developing energy storage infrastructure, the report said.

Pertamina also reportedly aims to strengthen long-term cooperation with U.S. energy producers and exporters through a long-term contract (LTC) scheme.
