Cameco Cuts Activity at Key Lake, McArthur River After Flooding Disrupts Supply Route

Cameco (CCJ) said Monday that flooding in northern Saskatchewan collapsed the Smoothstone River Bridge, disrupting a key supply route to its McArthur River mine and Key Lake mill.

The company said flood waters did not directly affect its northern Saskatchewan sites, but the bridge collapse and restrictions on an alternative roadway disrupted deliveries of critical operating materials.

Cameco temporarily halted production at the Key Lake mill and reduced activity at the McArthur River mine until regular deliveries resume, the company said, adding it does not know when normal transportation routes will reopen.

The company also said the Cigar Lake mine continues to operate and that it has not changed its consolidated annual production plan.
