Beachbody topped sales forecasts and posted an unexpected profit for the first quarter, sending shares of the fitness and nutrition company higher.

The stock was up 8% at $14 after hours. Shares ended the trading day up 25% year-to-date.

The company, known for fitness programs including P90X, swung to a profit of $2.3 million, or 30 cents a share, from a loss of $5.7 million, or 84 cents a share, in the same quarter a year ago.

Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting a loss of 8 cents a share.

Revenue tumbled 25% at $54.5 million, but that still beat the $51.8 million analysts expected, according to FactSet.

Operating costs in the quarter declined to $35.9 million from $55.2 million a year earlier.

The company has undergone a major transformation since 2024 when it ended its multilevel marketing network of "coaches" who earned money by recruiting other people to sell products, and went to a direct-to-consumer model for selling digital subscriptions and retail products.
