Japan plans to issue new cybersecurity guidelines requiring software developers to use powerful AI tools like Anthropic's Claude Mythos for vulnerability scanning, Nikkei Asia reported on Monday.

The government, in collaboration with the Japan AI Safety Institute (AISI), will outline procedures for identifying and addressing system flaws using high-performance AI capable of autonomously detecting code weaknesses, the publication said.

Digital Transformation Minister Hisashi Matsumoto is scheduled to hold a meeting on Monday with senior officials from key ministries, including the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Financial Services Agency, to advance this initiative, the report said.
