Altria (MO) said Thursday its subsidiary U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company plans to consolidate some operations as part of a strategy to modernize its manufacturing footprint.
USSTC will move manufacturing operations from its Nashville, Tennessee plant to a new facility that will be built on an existing campus in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, the company said.
Production in Nashville will wind down gradually, and operations are expected to shut down there in early 2028, the company said, adding that it intends to sell its over 30-acre campus in the heart of downtown Nashville.
