1319 ET - Ralph Lauren is seeing its recent marketing initiatives pay off. The apparel company's efforts to elevate its brand positioning with activations tied to sports and entertainment, including at the Olympics and a runway show in New York, helped it attract 1.4 million new customers to its direct-to-consumer businesses in the latest quarter, a low double-digit increase to last year, CEO Patrice Louvet says during a call with analysts. "Around the world, these activations are driving strong sustainable growth in new customer acquisition and retention," Louvet says. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
