scaler 3Q Sales Up as Customers Seek Protection From AI Cyberattacks, Loss Widens

Zscaler recorded higher revenue and a wider loss in the fiscal third quarter.

The cybersecurity company on Tuesday posted a loss of $13.9 million, or 9 cents a share, in the quarter ended April 30, compared with a loss of $4.1 million, or 3 cents a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out certain one-time items, adjusted per-share earnings were $1.08, ahead of the $1.01 anticipated by analysts, according to FactSet.

Revenue rose 25% to $850.5 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $835.6 million. Annual recurring revenue also rose 25%.

Chief Executive Officer Jay Chaudhry said Zscaler's products for protecting against attackers using AI have helped attract new customers.

In the current quarter, Zscaler expects revenue to be $875 million to $878 million, compared with the $878.6 million analysts are projecting, according to FactSet. The company is guiding for $1.08 to $1.09 in adjusted per-share earnings, compared with the $1.03 forecast of analysts.

Zscaler raised its outlook for full-year revenue to roughly $3.33 billion, up from $3.31 billion to $3.32 billion.

It now expects adjusted earnings per share to be $4.10 to $4.11, up from earlier guidance of $3.99 to $4.02.
