Synopsys (SNPS) has reached a deal with Elliott Investment Management, appointing Jesse Cohn as independent director effective June 1, the company said late Wednesday.

Under the deal, Elliott has committed to customary standstill, voting and confidentiality provisions, according to Synopsys.

The appointment expands the company's board to 11 members.
