JD.com (JD) founder Liu Qiangdong said the company plans to safeguard jobs even as it increases the use of artificial intelligence and robotics across its operations, Bloomberg reported Thursday.
In a speech circulated on social media, Liu said JD.com would retrain front-line workers displaced by automation instead of laying them off, according to the report.
Shares of JD.com were down 2.1% in Thursday premarket activity.
