PCE Inflation Data, Costco Earnings: What to Watch for the Rest of the Week -- WSJ

Investors will get more of a sense for how the American consumer is grappling with wartime inflation today. Earnings are due from retailers like Costco, Best Buy and Dollar Tree, and the personal-consumption expenditures index for April is scheduled for release.

Today

-- Earnings (a.m.): Best Buy, Dollar Tree, Kohl's, Royal Bank of Canada, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Hormel, Burlington Stores

-- Earnings (p.m.): Costco, Dell, Gap, MongoDB, Autodesk

-- Economic data: At 8:30 a.m. ET, the Bureau of Economic Analysis will release the second estimate of first-quarter gross-domestic product along with the Fed's preferred measure of inflation: the PCE index for April.

-- The Census Bureau will release its report on durable-goods orders for April, along with new home sales. Weekly jobless claims are also expected.

-- The Energy Information Administration will publish its weekly natural gas and petroleum status reports.

-- Fed speeches: New York Fed president John Williams delivers remarks at an economic conference in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Tomorrow

-- Economic data: The latest reading of the Chicago business barometer is scheduled for release. The Census Bureau is scheduled to publish its advanced economic indicators report for April on international trade along with retail and wholesale inventories.

-- Fed speeches: Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle W. Bowman is due to speak on monetary policy at the Reykjavik conference.
