NatWest on Wednesday launched 500 million pounds ($672.3 million) in a new sterling-denominated additional tier 1 (AT1) bond, LSEG data showed.

The bond's first call date is in 2036, the coupon rate is 7.5%, and the bond has an initial price talk of between 8.0% and 8.125%.

NatWest, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, UBS, JP Morgan, TD Bank, Citi and WFS are the joint bookrunners for the issue.

AT1 bonds are high-risk debt securities issued by banks to strengthen their capital structure.

"We have an outperform recommendation on NatWest AT1s and would see fair value at around 7.5%," CreditSights' Simon Adamson said in a note.
