KMD Could Realize Value From Selling Either Oboz or Rip Curl -- Market Talk

KMD Brands says its business review will look at the composition of its portfolio of retail businesses. Forsyth Barr assesses what this could involve. It notes that KMD's Oboz business has underperformed since its 2018 acquisition for US$75 million. "Assuming a conservative transaction multiple on historic earnings (3x-7x Ebitda), we estimate KMD could realize between NZ$12 million-NZ$28 million from the sale of Oboz," says analyst Paul Laxton Koraua. KMD's Rip Curl surfwear business could generate between NZ$140 million and NZ$330 million from a sale. Forsyth Barr estimates the total enterprise value of KMD is NZ$214 million. "With KMD's current enterprise value of NZ$210 million, the sale of either of these business could be a value realization strategy for KMD," Forsyth Barr says.
