Becton Dickinson has resumed shipments of its antiseptic skin preparation agent ChloraPrep in the U.S. after placing a voluntary hold on it earlier this month.

The medical-technology company said it has done additional final release testing on ChloraPrep that has been acceptable, and there have been no patient safety signals.

Shipments had been placed on hold after Becton Dickinson received a warning letter from the Federal Drug Administration tied to an October inspection of the company's El Paso manufacturing facility.

The letter cited deficiencies in the company's compliance with manufacturing standards, including inadequate investigation of complaints, insufficient laboratory controls and shortcomings in equipment clearing, among others, according to a regulatory filing.
