Insulet (PODD) said Wednesday that it has begun rolling out algorithm enhancements for its Omnipod 5 Automated Insulin Delivery system following clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration.

The company said Omnipod 5 is now compatible with Abbott's (ABT) Libre 3 Plus sensor in the US, providing users with additional continuous glucose monitoring options and allowing caregiver monitoring through the LibreLinkUp app.

The update introduces a new 100 mg/dL Target Glucose setting and helps keep users in Automated Mode with fewer interruptions even during prolonged high-glucose events, the company said.

The enhancements will be delivered via over-the-air software updates as compatible Pods become available through US retail channels, Insulet added.
