TXNM Energy Asks for Energy Resources, Citing Demand from Large Load Customers

TXNM Energy's subsidiary PNM has asked regulators for more resources to meet rising customer demand.

PNM submitted an application to the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission seeking approval for 800 megawatts of wind resources, 240 megawatts of solar resources, 610 megawatts of battery storage resources and 40 megawatts of natural gas.

PNM is forecasting a 40% increase in customer electricity demand by 2032, driven by load growth and New Mexico's economic development efforts.

New large load customers will still need to cover the incremental costs they are adding to the system and pay for a share of the existing system, TXNM said.
