Novo Nordisk's (NVO) partner Metabolic will offer early access in the UAE to an oral version of obesity drug, Wegovy, for weight management, Metabolic said Tuesday.

Metabolic said the UAE will be the first market outside the US to receive the pill, with no near-term rollout planned elsewhere.

In clinical trials, the oral version of Wegovy showed an average 17% body weight reduction over 64 weeks, the company said.

Metabolic said access will be provided through its supervised treatment program.
