Edgewise to Sell Muscular Dystrophy Unit in $2.65B Deal

Edgewise Therapeutics agreed to sell sevasemten and its muscular dystrophy business for up to $2.65 billion.

The biopharmaceutical company said Monday it would sell the business to Servier, an independent pharmaceutical group run by a foundation.

Servier will pay $1.55 billion in upfront cash consideration and up to $1.1 billion in additional milestone payments, Edgewise said.

Following the deal, Edgewise will focus on cardiovascular treatments.

All Edgewise employees who primarily work in muscular dystrophy will receive a comparable offer at Servier.

Edgewise shares gained 28% to $42.86 in pre-market trading Monday.
