Market Chatter: Delta Air Lines Considers Thompson Aero Seats as Safran Rollout Stalls

Delta Air Lines (DAL) is weighing a switch from Safran as the supplier of business-class suites for key US transcontinental routes due to ongoing supply-chain and certification delays, Bloomberg reported Monday.

Delta is evaluating a competing seat from Thompson Aero Seating and will proceed with the supplier that obtains Federal Aviation Administration certification first, Chief Marketing and Product Officer Ranjan Goswami said, according to the report.

Ongoing FAA approval delays for Safran's business-class seat have pushed expected certification to mid-2028, prompting Delta to consider Thompson Aero's alternative for transcontinental routes, Bloomberg added.

Delta Air Lines, Safran and Thompson Aero Seating didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
