Guidewire Software (GWRE) said Tuesday that Santam, Africa's largest general insurer, has gone live on its cloud platform as part of the insurer's efforts to modernize core operations and expand the use of AI and automation.

The deployment provides Santam with a scalable technology foundation designed to improve operational efficiency, data access and digital services, Guidewire said. The insurer added that the customers can expect more reliable systems, faster policy and claims processing, and improved service across brokers, call centers and online channels.

Guidewire said the platform will support Santam's long-term plans to deploy AI across underwriting, claims and customer service functions.
