Enliven Therapeutics's shares jumped after the company released positive early data on the latest trial of its leukemia drug and said regulators green lit the design of a final large-scale study.

The stock was up 26% at $46.60 in premarket trading. Shares had already doubled year-to-date when the market closed Wednesday.

The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company said before the opening bell that in the phase 1 clinical trial evaluating ELVN-001, its lead drug candidate, up to 61% of patients with previously treated chronic myeloid leukemia saw cancer markers drop significantly. Only 6% of patients stopped the treatment due to side effects.

Chief Medical Officer Helen Collins said the results were promising and showcase the consistency of ELVN-001's overall profile.

At the end of the trial, Enliven met with the Food and Drug Administration and reached an alignment with the agency on the planned daily dose and patient types to be used in a planned phase 3 trial.
