NuScale Power (SMR) said Wednesday that it has opened its 12th Energy Exploration Center at the University of Virginia's College at Wise to support nuclear energy education and workforce training.
The center, funded by the Virginia Clean Energy Innovation Bank through the Virginia Department of Energy, provides simulation-based training for students using a control room model based on NuScale's small modular reactor design, the company said.
NuScale said the program would strengthen regional workforce development and STEM education as demand for clean energy and nuclear expertise continues to grow.
