The PHLX Semiconductor Index soared nearly 8% today, its sharpest one-day increase since April 9, 2025.

The index's 7.9% gain on Thursday was the latest jolt in a volatile period for chip stocks and other artificial-intelligence related names.

Among the day's winners:

-- Applied Materials, up 11%.

-- Intel, up 9.3%.

-- Lam Research, up 13%.

-- Micron, up 12%.

-- Marvell, up 11%.

-- ARM Holdings, up 11%.

-- Teradyne, up 9.7%.

-- AMD, up 8%.

-- Qualcomm, up 6%.

-- Broadcom, up 3.5%.

-- Nvidia, up 2.2%.
