Penumbra (PEN) said late Thursday it has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for Thunderbolt, expanding its computer assisted vacuum thrombectomy technology for acute ischemic stroke.

Thunderbolt offers CAVT technology designed to detect, fatigue, and completely ingest clot at the site of the occlusion, it said.
