Coda Octopus Group shares climbed Monday, after the company logged an increase in second-quarter profit despite the Iran conflict affecting projects in the Middle East.
Shares of the underwater technology company were recently up around 4.5% at $11.41. Shares are up 17% year to date.
The company posted net income of $1.7 million, or 15 cents a share, up from around $909,000, or 8 cents a share, the year prior.
Revenue was down 1.6% to $6.9 million, compared with $7.02 million in the same quarter a year earlier. This was due to a decline in revenue within their core marine technology business, due to the Iran conflict. Many of Coda's offshore projects in the Middle East and Asia remain on hold.
"During the quarter, we experienced reduced demand from customers in these regions due to the ongoing geopolitical situation," said Chief Executive Annmarie Gayle.
