Keith Snyder watched in amazement Friday as SpaceX shares soared past $170-a price that implies the company's total value is around $2.2 trillion. The CFRA Research analyst's bull-case valuation had been just short of $2 trillion, and even then, he said, the revenue growth needed to justify that number would be "borderline comical."
"I struggle to get to the number that we're at right now," he said early Friday afternoon.
Snyder's base-case valuation-$1.5 trillion-was already higher than peers. Morningstar analyst Nicolas Owens said Friday "we still think the probability-weighted fair value of the shares is $63."
"The nerd in me would love to be proven wrong," Snyder said. "The analyst in me doesn't see that."
