Progressive (PGR) on Wednesday reported net income for May of $2.47 per share, up from $1.81 a year earlier.

Net premiums earned in May were $7.36 billion, compared with $6.72 billion a year earlier, according to Progressive.

The company said it had 39,970 policies in force as of May 31, compared with 37,002 a year earlier.
