Quantgroup (HKG:2685) acquired a company holding an internet content provider license in China to support the planned launch of a consumer e-commerce platform, according to a Wednesday Hong Kong bourse filing.

Shares of the firm were up nearly 37% in Thursday morning trade.

The platform will focus on healthy living, personal efficiency, and emotional companionship, offering products such as smart devices and other technology.

The company said the acquisition is expected to accelerate the platform's launch by shortening the licensing process.

Quantgroup is also exploring artificial intelligence applications in offline consumption scenarios, including automotive 4S stores. The initiatives remain in their early stages and are not expected to materially affect the group's current business or revenue structure.
