Jabil raised its full-year outlook after logging higher profit and a jump in revenue in its fiscal third quarter, as demand for artificial-intelligence infrastructure remained robust.

Chief Executive Mike Dastoor said Wednesday that Jabil's outlook for AI-related revenue for the year is now meaningfully higher on what he called extremely strong demand.

"At the same time, we continued to see better-than-expected performance in areas of the portfolio that had previously been under pressure, particularly in automotive and connected living," he added

The manufacturing company now expects adjusted earnings of $12.70 a share on revenue of about $35 billion for the year, up from a previous forecast for adjusted earnings of $12.25 a share on revenue of roughly $34 billion.

Analysts polled by FactSet are looking for adjusted earnings of $12.35 a share on revenue of $34.17 billion.

The new outlook came as Jabil reported a profit of $275 million, or $2.59 a share, for its three months ended May 31. That compares with a profit of $222 million, or $2.03 a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out one-time items, earnings came in at $3.16 a share. Analysts were looking for adjusted earnings of $3.10 a share.

Net revenue rose 12% to $8.75 billion, ahead of Wall Street models for $8.61 billion.

For the current quarter, Jabil guided for adjusted earnings of $3.80 to $4.20 a share, compared with analyst views for $3.72 a share. Revenue is projected to come in between $9.2 billion and $10 billion, topping forecasts for $8.97 billion.
